mixing life and love with a dash of humor!

Cate-isms October 7, 2009

These are just a few of the things I live by that life has taught me. I call them “My Platinum Rules.” As time goes by and I become even more wise, I will add more to the list :-)

* Love God first, then yourself
* Never waste the pretty. It’s meant to be shown off.
* Chase no one. If you have to chase it, it’s trying to runaway. So let it. Lose the guy and keep your pride.
* Focus only on yourself. You can only control you and you can’t change anyone.
* Do something impulsive. Take a risk because you may never get another chance.
* If you can afford it, buy it. What’s money if not to spend?
* Use your wit to amuse and not abuse
* Smile at everyone. Say hello. You’ll light up someone’s day. Plus, it’s contagious.
* If you want to do something, do it. Who cares about what others think.
* Don’t believe everything you hear – by the time it gets to you, it’s overly exaggerated – trust me on this one! If you want to know the truth – ask the source
* Confidence is a turn on, cockiness, not so much
* Compromise but never settle
* Work smart, not hard
* Listen to your instinct. Pay attention to the red flags and read the signs.
* Never doubt yourself. You are a creature unlike any other.
* You can’t please everyone
* Worrying gives you wrinkles, so don’t
* Don’t play games, play hard to get
* Make your bed every morning. It gives you a sense of accomplishment.
* Sometimes silence is the best answer
* Sleeping in on the weekends does not make you lazy. You deserve it.
* There’s nothing wrong with guarding your heart. It’s self-preservation.
* Make time for yourself
* Treasure and cherish your friends, especially when you’re in a relationship .. they’ll be the one to be there when some idiot breaks your heart
* Doing nothing is doing something
* There is nothing wrong with being a flirt. There is however, something wrong with being a tease.
* Stand up for something you believe in
* People want what they cannot have
* Saying I’m sorry is just an excuse to do whatever you want without any regards to someone else’s feelings and then apologize so you don’t look like a complete ass
* Be an observer, that way you can treat people accordingly.
* When it comes to dating, there’s only one rule….the winner always stands out from the losers.
* Know your worth. Always.
* Never compromise who you are. Live with integrity. Your word is your bond.
* If you don’t like something, speak up.
* If you’re not getting what you deserve, find it elsewhere
* Never dwell on the past. Never go back. It’s called the past for a reason.
* Compliment someone. Always look for the good in people.
* Take your time. Use it wisely.
* Being average is boring.
* Give. Whether it’s monetary or your time, just do it.
* There is no competition when it comes to being you, so stop being jealous.
* When a guy is into you, you’ll know. He’ll find ways to not only tell you, but also show you (just like the book says).
* Accept people for who they are, and then decide if you can stand them enough to keep in your life.
* Have fun. Laugh, even when others aren’t. There’s no need to be so damn serious all the time.
* You only get one first impression.
* Don’t ever regret anything. It’s what you wanted at one time.
* Pray .. miracles happen everyday

    I am pleasantly surprised to have found your blog. I don’t often read these things, but was curious to find out more about your title. I was genuinely intrigued by your “about cate”, and then found myself lost in your words. You definitely have the gift of gab, I can only imagine what a conversation would be like. I am grateful and feel somewhat blessed to have found your blog. Thank you, you have inspired me, no reminded me to look outside myself, and remember what it is that I have always known. Be true to yourself, no regrets, smile the world is watching. Excuse me while I rant a little. To think that your words touched me in this way. I am humbled by the thought that there are still things that can, or rather wordsworths that continue to explore and create a poetic abyss of peaceful homage to life. Salamat po.
